John S. Carter

Born: 1796, Killingworth, Middlesex, Connecticut. Baptized: 1832. Ordained an Elder: 1832. Ordained a High Priest: May 24,1832.  Died:  June 24, 1834 (1835). Parents: Gideon Carter and Johanna Sims. Brother to Gideon H., Jared, and Simeon Carter. Married:  Elizabeth Kenyon, February 28, 1813-five children.

1834: John S. Carter was chosen as a member of the first high council organized in this dispensation of February 17, 1834. It was at the home of Joseph Smith in Kirtland. Minutes of that meeting comprise Doctrine and Covenants, section 102.

1834: He was member of Zion’s Camp that made the trek to Missouri to assist the Saints in need.

1834 or 1835: He died of cholera on June 24.
