1831: On January 5, the Lord gave a revelation through Joseph Smith on behalf of James Covill (D&C 39). James had been a Baptist minister for about forty years. He covenanted with the Lord that he Would obey any command that the Lord gave to him through Joseph. The Lord instructed James to be baptized. He told him he had a word for him to do, and that he should preach in Ohio. He also reminded James that he had experienced great sorrow in the past because he had rejected the Lord many times due to the pride and cares of the word.
